Senior Cost Accountant / Analyst

Description: 

The analyst will determine manufacturing and inventory movement data is translated into appropriate general ledger entries. Perform closing responsibilities, analyze manufacturing variances, and prepare supporting analyses to the financial statements.

Reporting Relationship:
Cost Analyst reports to the Cost Accounting Section Manager. This position also works closely with the Department Manager of Finance and the Plant location's operating personnel.

Responsibilities: 
  • Prepares cost estimates for new products by working with design and engineering groups.
  • Maintains bill of materials, work center rates and labor rates.
  • Performs month end closing activities to close manufacturing.
  • Prepares month end Journal entries, reconciliations and support for audit requests.
  • Performs monthly inventory reconciliations and analysis.
  • Supports the annual budget process.
  • Other duties and tasks assigned by the Section and Department Managers as needed.
Requirements: 

Ideal Candidates Will Possess:

  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
  • Time management & prioritization skills is a must
  • Ability to prioritize work flow

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent Finance/Accounting

Experience Requirements:

3-5 years experience in cost accounting in a manufacturing industry.

Additional skills listed below is a plus:

  • 2-3 years of experience in budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
  • Ability to present to upper management
