Design Engineer II

Description: 

Under the direction of the ALP (Automotive Lighting Plant) Design Section Manager, design and develop new products in a timely manner, achieving company goals for quality, cost, and delivery. Support the assigned manufacturing areas in meeting objectives for productivity, quality, and associate safety. Meet with customers to determine specifications and requirements for new lighting products.

Responsibilities: 
  • Meet with customers and fellow designers to determine both hardware and software specifications or new products.
  • Using CAD software (Catia V5), design & develop exterior lighting products for the automotive industry which meet legal, customer, and internal II Stanley requirements.
  • Participate in design review to review drawings, analyze tooling, and recommend improvements leading to increased productivity, quality and safety.
  • Attend and participate in New Product Development (NPD) meetings as scheduled.
  • Provide support to the new product development and engineering sections.
  • Provide support to ALP for current production engineering changes.
  • Performs other duties, tasks, or projects at the direction of immediate supervisor.
Requirements: 

Experience Required:
Catia V5 – 1 to 5 years Working knowledge of Catia Software
Plastic component design- 3D Modeling of plastic components with the direction of Senior Designer or Supervisor
MS Office software

Optional Skills:
Additional CAD software (ex. NX, Solidworks, Autocad, etc...)
Knowledge of FMVSS/CMVSS and ECE Lighting Regulations
Knowledge of OEM Lighting Requirements and Best Practices
Knowledge of automotive thermal and structural test requirements
Knowledge of CAD quality requirements and procedures

Education Required:
B. S. degree in engineering or engineering technology preferred.
High School Diploma with equivalent experience without degree.
