Packaging Specialist

Description: 

Under the direction of the Purchasing Supervisor is responsible for procuring the necessary packaging and supplies to package and deliver manufactured components and products used and produced at I I Stanley Company. Insures packaging meets customer requirements needed to insure the integrity and quality of parts during warehousing, shipment, and delivery.

Responsibilities: 
  • Interact with external customers and internal sales function to develop packaging requirements for company products. Insurers that packaging developed protects the integrity of the product at all times. Establishes the contracts for the packaging and insures the timely delivery of the packaging to users.
  • Interact with packaging suppliers to develop packaging that meets the requirements for internal and external customers for product quality and integrity. Following company policies and under direct supervision establishes and negotiates contracts for the packaging and packaging supplies. Establishes delivery schedules and maintains schedules to meet the needs of internal and external customers.
  • Cross functionally interact with Production Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Control and Sales to develop packaging specifications and designs for I I Stanley products.
  • Responsible for packaging supplier performance related to pre-assembled packaging, internal packaging and the delivery of those supplies to meet the needs and expectations of manufacturing operations.
  • Responsible for acquiring packaging, packaging supplies, packaging services in the most economical manner while maintaining specifications and quality requirements. Works within established budgets to achieve company goals and objectives for packaging costs.
  • Responsible for company packaging expense budgets and QMS compliance. Obtains quotations and using knowledge and experience analyzes proposals, produces spreadsheets and makes purchasing recommendations.
  • Performs other duties, tasks, or projects at the direction of immediate supervisor.
Requirements: 

Education Required:
Minimum Qualifications: Associate's Degree – business related & 2-5 years purchasing/packaging procurement.
** Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Engineering. Supply Chain Management or related field, two years of corrugated & plastic packaging experience within manufacturing sector.

Skill Required:
Proficient in MS Office / AS400
Must be able to travel on short notice to customers or suppliers

Ability to work overtime on an unplanned and unscheduled basis to meet customer requirements is essential.
